Coming out of hibernation

Date: Thursday, 17th March 2016 | Category: , , ,

Hibernation: ‘to be in an inactive or dormant state or period’. Just like animals, we can all be guilty of getting into this state over the winter, but like our friend the bear, now is the time to come out of hibernation and give ourselves and our business a reboot and refresh.

That’s why we’ve put together this article to help make sure your business is at the top of it’s game and is maximising it’s potential success.

Your first step should be to do a brand audit – your brand image is what defines you and can be responsible for either giving or losing you a competitive edge in the market place. Customers are spoilt for choice nowadays with the internet’s different channels and platforms opening up a whole world of options for them, increasing your competition and meaning that gaining that competitive edge is vital.

Top areas to consider are:

Logo

Maybe it was enticing and memorable when it was first created but how long ago was that? A dated logo could imply a dated business.

Branding

Does all your branding match up or have you fallen into the trap of focusing on what looks best when creating something new, rather than making sure it fits in with everything else? Inconsistency in branding could suggest a lack of organisation, reliability and ultimately confuse the audience.

Products and services

Have you, like most companies, developed your offering over time? If so do your branding, messaging and marketing reflect this? The point of these three elements are to sell your products and services to your audience, but if they are inaccurate or unclear the customer is likely to go elsewhere.

Your target audience

Are they the same as when you first began? If not have you changed your tactics to address this? Markets continuously mature, change their habits and grow. Try carrying out market analysis; market research, PESTLE, customer surveys – all these could help you work out how best to approach your target audience. If you don’t have the time or resource to do this in-house why not give us a call and let us do it for you? We can even decipher which marketing channels you should be using to attract your customers, then plan, implement and manage this for you through to completion. Call me on 01234 779 054 to discuss.

You are planning to grow/ expand

If this is the case then now is the best time to have a brand refresh, to make sure you are entering new market places with your business in the best possible state. As you grow there will also be more to analyse so getting it done now works out easier in the long run.

At Phew we have dedicated specialists in each area that can help you at every stage. Get in contact via our website or contact me directly at jazmine.brace@phew.org.uk or on 01234 779 054.
