Are you ready for a Thunderclap?

By now we all know the huge impact social media can have on a campaign if it is carried out correctly and gets high levels of engagement.

Of course, the more people you get to engage at one time the bigger impact there will be, as the message is more likely to spread over people’s feeds, making it unavoidable.

That’s where Thunderclap comes in – a (fairly) simple, free service that gets your message heard by helping people say it together. Providing you get your set number of people sign up to send out the message before it is due to be sent (therefore reaching your ‘supporter goal’), Thunderclap will blast out a scheduled Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr post from all your supporters, creating a wave of attention.

With so many awareness days and weeks at the moment you might be thinking about creating your own Thunderclap campaign to spread your message; so to help you out we thought we would put together some key factors to consider before you begin…

Getting the message right

The first thing to remember is you have two audiences – the ones who you want to promote and share the message and the one that the message is aimed at. Although these may overlap in some cases, this is important to consider when writing your content.

Another point to consider is the fact that people like to put their own  stamp on things. Why not allow the message to be personalised by each person/ organisation sending it? This also adds credibility to the message as  people can tell that the sharer believes and is invested in what they are saying.

One last factor to consider with regards to wording – make sure you are clear on the fact that you need people to support the campaign via Thunderclap, not just to share the link.

Still unsure on what your content should be? We have a dedicated content marketing team who can write it for you! Contact us today to find out more.

Reaching your goals

Don’t feel you need to put your supporter goal exceptionally high- remember you can always increase it later. Wouldn’t you rather exceed your goal than not reach it and have to see all your hard work go to waste because the messages don’t blast out?

As with everything, record all your activity and the outcomes so you can learn from your experiences and make your campaign even more successful next time.
