Meet the team – Emma

Date: Tuesday, 26th Jul 2022 | Category: Staff Spotlight

Emma is our marketing manager and since joining nearly a year ago, she has worked on a number of projects, including helping launch the client panels, sponsoring industry events and improving client communications. We asked her to tell us a bit more about her role and what it’s really like working for Phew.

What does a typical day at Phew look like for you?

I feel lucky to work flexible hours to suit my personal life at Phew. I have a young son, so I have a day off each week to spend quality time with him. Each day is rarely the same which keeps things interesting! Typically, they are filled with the business-as-usual tasks, such as writing and publishing blog posts, creating the Phew monthly newsletter and updating the website, alongside ad hoc projects to support the team and help with business growth. This can be anything from speaking to clients and devising marketing campaigns, to briefing external agencies and building impact reports.

What do you like best about working at Phew?

The team. There is a real sense of being ‘in it together’ and sharing the same goals. We all support each other when the need arises. We work hard to drive the business forward, but always manage to have a laugh which lightens the load! As we all work flexibly either from home or the office, we have a weekly virtual ‘Whatever Wednesday’ where we can spend 30 minutes together and talk about anything but work. This isn’t something I had come across before in previous roles, so I appreciate the chance for us to get to know each other better. Since lockdown restrictions ended, we’ve enjoyed several outings together, including getting competitive at a board game café and going out for lunches and dinners which have always been very enjoyable.

What is stand out memory from work?

We had a company meeting a few months ago and before it began, we were given a surprise gift box each which had a variety of handpicked treats in, including shower gels, face masks, inspirational postcards and chocolate. It was so thoughtful and brought us all together in such a nice way!

Three words to describe Phew

Authentic, collaborative and flexible.
