Meet the team – Andrew
Andrew is a software developer here at Phew and as well as working in a client support role, he is the lead for our website design and development projects. You have probably spoken to Andrew as a client, but we thought we would ask him more about his role and what it’s really like working for Phew.
What does a typical day at Phew look like for you?
As a team, our projects are completed within a sprint – which is a short, time-boxed period to complete a set amount of work. I am lucky to work flexibly from both home and in the office, so my day starts with either an online or in-person team stand-up meeting to discuss the sprint, as well as review any support tickets that have come in. From there the day consists of sprint work and looking at any support tickets that require a code change.
What do you like best about working at Phew?
I like that as a business, Phew is very open minded to change and constantly strives for improvement. If I have an idea or see something that we can improve on, I’m challenged to prove the benefit and then plan how to make it happen. This means I get to work on things I find genuinely exciting.
What are you excited about for the future at Phew?
I can’t say too much because it’s work we’ve got in the pipeline! But what I can say is that we’re going to be doing some changes to our products will make a huge difference.
One piece of advice for anyone who wants to join the team
You are going to have a lot projects to work on so organization and communication are key. Proper planning will save you a lot of time in the long run.
What is a stand out memory from work?
During my first time at Phew in the old office, a random wet dog burst into the office and caused chaos. Luckily, the owner turned up and took it home!
Three words to describe Phew
Flexible, busy, open.
What are you doing when you’re not working?
My partner and I are trying to eat a bit healthier so experimenting with different recipes has taken up a lot of my time recently! Otherwise, it’s DIY and video games.
