Date: Tuesday, 27th Jun 2023 | Category: Staff Spotlight, The Phew Team

Today, we are shining a spotlight on a member of the team at Phew: our Executive Assistant, Jelka. As the right-hand person to Managing Director Matthew, she plays a vital role in supporting him and the team with a variety of exciting projects. In this blog post, Jelka tells us about life at Phew, what advice she’d give to her younger self, and what she gets up to outside of work.

What does your typical working day look like?

As Executive Assistant to Matthew, no two days are the same. I support him with all aspects of the business, from looking after our prospective and current clients by ensuring that they have everything required so they’re able to make the right decisions for their organisation, to working together on the growth strategy and ensuring the wellbeing of the team.

In what ways does Phew’s company culture foster strong client relationships and partnerships? Jelka, Executive Assistant at Phew

I’ve seen first-hand that Phew create their relationships from the very first interaction. We know we can resolve an organisation’s pain points, we just need to ask them to share their struggles so we can suggest the best solution for them. With Phew’s unique experience, particularly in the safeguarding sector, we understand many of the challenges, and have tailored our products to help with overcoming them.

We build trust by keeping new clients informed throughout the joining process, via regular updates, meetings and providing a timeline of what’s happening next. Once their system has launched, they feel empowered through the training we provide and know that the support team are on hand to help answer any queries. Their Account Manager will ensure they are getting the most of their system and the data they’ve collected, which in turn helps them to improve their organisation’s outcomes.

How does Phew drive innovation and continuous improvement in its services or products?

Our developers are extremely experienced in identifying ways to enhance our systems and work with a mindset of continuous improvement to build a roadmap of ideas to implement. They also work closely with clients to understand if there are ways in which the product could make their lives even easier, whether that’s designing a new, bespoke report, or adding further functionality.

What excites you about the future at Phew?

There are a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline, and growing our team and network is all part of the fun! I know Phew can help so many more organisations to help manage their time more effectively by using our systems and unlocking their data.

What advice would you give to your younger self when considering your career?

Find your passion and lean into it, although this advice isn’t just for my younger self but for everyone. It’s never too late to change.

What are you doing when you’re not working?

I’m currently renovating a house, enjoy going to the gym, finding new countryside walks to explore with our beagle, Bruce, gardening, attempting to grow vegetables with various levels of success, and discovering new restaurants.
