Meet the team – Nick
Nick is our longest standing team member (apart from Matthew, our MD!) and in his time, he has worked on hundreds of projects and built fantastic relationships with lots of our clients. We asked him to tell us a bit more about his role and what it’s really like working for Phew.
What does a typical day at Phew look like for you?
I work flexible hours at Phew, as part of our culture is to support each other, so this gives me the opportunity to spend time with my daughter one afternoon a week. Typically, my day begins by working through emails and reviewing any escalated support tickets. My team works using Agile so next to take place is our daily sprint stand-up and support meeting. This really focuses us as a team and ensures we are aligned in our efforts. The rest of my day is spent working on current project work and taking part in client and internal meetings.
What do you like best about working at Phew?
My manager Amanda and our MD Matthew are really supportive and they encourage a good work/life balance.
We’ve evolved as a team over the years and it’s really satisfying to see we all truly work together to achieve our Objectives and Key Results, and that we have a clear vision to work towards.
During lockdown and working from home, a weekly virtual social catch up was created called ‘Whatever Wednesday’. It’s 30 minutes where work talk isn’t allowed and we can chat about anything, from what we got up to at the weekend, to debating over what the best world cuisine is! It’s nice that we have the opportunity to do this so we don’t miss the interactions which usually take place in the office kitchen.
What is stand out memory from work?
I’ve worked for Phew for more than 16 years so I’ve seen a lot of changes during that time. One thing that really stands out is when we outgrew our old office and moved to where we are now. The previous office was based on a farm and our building was a converted horse shed! Seeing the new office at Bedford Technology Park was amazing and incredibly exciting.
